We’re not going to stand by and watch money corrupt our democracy.
Eight out of ten Americans, Democrats and Republicans alike, want new campaign finance laws that would fix our current system of legalized bribery. And on Monday, October 29th, we’re going to remind politicians that while they’ve been ignoring our democracy, the rest of us have been paying close attention.
Billions of dollars are flooding our election and corrupting the basic principle of “one person, one vote.” In this post-Citizens United era, Americans believe that fighting the corrupting influence of big money is the second most important thing for the next president to address — right behind jobs. Yet politicians have largely ignored the issue this election season.
Over 400 artists from across the country competed in a national competition to find an iconic piece of art that could inspire others to take action on this issue. This image, submitted by Landon Wix in Tennessee, was chosen as the winner by an esteemed panel of judges, which included Shepard Fairey, Jesse Dylan, Lawrence Lessig and Annie Leonard. By signing up for this Thunderclap, you are are joining the movement to spread this image and its message — Keep Money Out — on October 29th along with thousands of others.
